The Volcanology group in Geosciences investigates the magmatic conditions leading to effusive to explosive style volcanic eruptions on Earth with implications for volcanic hazards assessment and their mitigation. Our research group also studies the dynamics of volcanic eruptions on other planetary bodies such as the Moon and Mars. We use a variety of methods such as field or remote observation, laboratory experiments and numerical modeling to address our research problems.
