Mineral Separation

We house a full range of cutting and polishing machinery for thin and thick sections. Prof Ducea manages a mineral separation facility with fume hoods used for heavy liquid mineral separation. The laboratory contains a metal-free shatterbox, Franz isodynamic separator, Wilfley table, hot plates and other equipment used for mineral separation. The lab also has a new high precision Sartorius microbalance, and an array of picking tools, which is used for separating grains down to 50 microns in diameter
