My life in Colorguard
Colorguard is one of the most important parts of my life. I have always dreamed of becoming a paleontologist, and I never thought that anything else could equal my love of paleontology. Then I discovered colorguard. I have been spinning since I was 14 as a freshman in high school. Since that time there has only been two semesters I stopped spinning, and they were agonizing times! I have met so many people and done so many things through guard that I can't imagine it not being a part of my life.
2002 was my age out year(I turned 22 in January). I concluded my performing experience with Exaltation National Winterguard, and Independent A guard in Tempe, Arizona.
Now I just feel like revisiting the wonderful experiences I have had in the past 7.5 years!
2002 Season: Exaltation National Winterguard
This year we have traveled to two WGI regionals. We took third place at the Southern California Regional in Riverside, California with a score of 64.7. We took first place at the Rio Grande Regional in Las Cruces, NM with a score of 75.3. We competed at the WGI championships in Dayton, OH and made semifinals. We also competed at the California Championships and took 2nd place. It was a great end to a wonderful season! Exaltation is now an Open Class Winterguard. They are now affiliated with the Momentum World Class Drumline. Their website is: www.azmomentum.org.
University of Arizona Winterguard 2001
The 2001 season show was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. This was truly one of the best experiences I had in my Colorguard career. I met great new people and thoroughly enjoyed this season!
Mirage Visual Ensemble, Independent A, 1999-2001
The first year of Mirage began with five members,
including our choreographer. We grew to 10, and had a very successful season.
Our show was Dream On by Aerosmith. The picture below is Blaine Beatty and me
at the Riverside regional this season.
The second season we grew to 14 and performed to Cirque Soleil. I honestly have to say this was my favorite show I ever performed. 39'' rifles rock!
My last season with Mirage was one of the songs from Star Wars episode I. This was an interesting year performing with two units! The 2002 Season was the last season for Mirage.
