Contemporary society has redefined the role of the scientist; today we are increasingly called upon to draw far-reaching cultural and political conclusions. As a result, a modern geologist must have a well-researched standard of ethics and an understanding of the world’s issues in addition to a solid education in his field.

Pursuing these qualities, I have gained experience in a range of fields across the country and abroad, and will have completed my Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of Arizona in May 2005 with an emphasis in mineral resources.

• objective

To complete a research project in economic geology during the remainder of my undergraduate career; to pursue a career in the minerals industry and, eventually, a graduate degree; to transition in the future to a position in education and/or public policy. In addition, having completed four semesters of Russian language, I hope to join a project in Eurasia to promote scientific and economic cooperation between the United States and the republics of the former Soviet Union.
