If you have a Windows-based computer, please download and install the software,
XtalDraw.
This is interactive Windows-based software that draws crystal and molecular structures as ball and stick,
polyhedral, and thermal ellipsoid representations. It comes with a large set of datafiles.
Not only does it read its own XtalDraw datafiles,
but it can also read the American Mineralogist Crystal Structure DataBase datafiles
(Link to database).
- Bring your laptop to class, if you can.
- In this lecture we will examine the crystal structures of several different minerals through the interactive XtalDraw software.
