Technical Program Plan Update

The workshop conveners would like to maximize the amount of discussion time available for our three day meeting. At the same time we understand that participants may be eager to share their thoughts with the entire workshop group. To meet both of these goals we intend to provide brief (5 minute, 3-4 PowerPoint slides) talk slots the first day for all participants who wish to speak. By keeping to this limit, and including two, 20 minute introductory talks by the conveners, we hope to conclude all formal presentations by lunchtime of the first day of the workshop. Anyone planning to speak should inform Andy via e-mail (acohen@geo.arizona.edu) no later than Oct 1 of their interest in speaking and should submit a ~250 word abstract to the same e-mail address by Oct 17, for posting to our web site and inclusion in a workshop handout. The abstract may include a list of authors and affiliations if there are multiple contributors beyond the person attending the workshop.

We realize that five minutes is a very brief time to present what may be complex data or ideas. To allow everyone an opportunity to expand on their ideas more fully, we ask that you consider also submitting either a Powerpoint slide show or an expanded MS Word version of your abstract (with or without figures), also for posting to the conference web site. These can be of any length, up to a maximum file size of 5Mb, the largest file that the geo.arizona.edu e-mail server will accept. This will allow you to flesh out your thoughts for all participants to see in advance. You may submit such a slide show regardless of whether or not you wish to speak. Please submit these slide shows no later than Oct 17 to the same email address given above.
