Kinematic history of the Himalayan thrust belt and foreland basin system, Nepal

Since 1994 my students, colleagues, and I have been working on the geology and tectonics of the Nepalese portion of the Himalayan orogenic belt. Our work addresses a wide range of topics, including:

• Structure and stratigraphy of the Himalayan thrust belt in western Nepal
• Erosional unroofing history and foreland basin evolution in the central Himalaya
• Nature of Himalayan control on seawater 87Sr/86Sr
• East-west extension in the high Himalaya
• Compilation of a new geological map of Nepal
• Structure of the Ramgarh Thrust Fault, Nepal
