Professor Vance Holliday Receives Fryxell Award

Vance Holliday is the 2018 recipient of the Society for American Archaeology Fryxell Award for Interdisciplinary Research. The award is presented in recognition for interdisciplinary excellence of a scientist whose research has contributed significantly to American archaeology. The award cycles through zoological sciences, botanical sciences, earth sciences, physical sciences, and general interdisciplinary studies. The 2018 award is for earth science contributions in archaeology. It will be presented at the SAA annual meeting in Washington, D.C. next Spring. The first and only other UA recipient of the award is the other Vance – C. Vance Haynes – in 1978.
