Board Member

Peter van der Veen

Peter is retired.  He was a Manager in the joint World Bank/IFC Oil/Gas and Mining Department where he facilitated activities ranging from loans to governments, advisory services, equity investments in private transactions, and structured financing for investors. The focus of the Bank’s activities in these areas is to assist Governments to attract private investment through legal, regulatory reforms, restructuring, and capacity building, to ensure that extractive industries contribute to sustainable development (including stakeholders’ consultations, community development and governance/transparency aspects). The Department provides services in a global context, with operations and activities in all the regions. Peter spent 22 years with the World Bank and is currently a consultant to the Bank.  Prior to joining the World Bank Peter spent 15 years with Royal Dutch Shell/Billiton primarily working in South America and the Caribbean.
