M. Stephen Enders, Vice-Chair

Steve Enders earned his bachelor’s in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1976, and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Arizona.  After early career experience at Galactic Resources, Pegasus Gold, Texas Gulf and Terradex Corporation, Steve joined Phelps Dodge, where he worked for fourteen years in positions of increasing responsibility.  He served as president of Phelps Dodge Exploration Corporation from 2001 to 2003, after which he joined Newmont Mining Corporation as vice president of worldwide exploration and later as senior vice president of worldwide exploration.  Steve retired from Newmont in 2009 and is currently Executive Chairman for Eurasian Minerals Inc., a Director of Cupric Canyon Capital, and Research Professor at the Colorado School of Mines.  He is also President-Elect and an honorary lecturer for the Society of Economic Geologists.
