Second Exam is this Friday, 11/7 in class. Study aids include:
Review questions and study guide posted at this web site under
Sample Exams; past exams are on reserve in Antevs and the
Reserve Reading Room in the Main Library; review questions
highlighted from your study packet during lectures.
Exam review session will be during Wednesdays lecture.

The last extra credit field trip is next Thur 1-5; Fri 1-5
and Sat (4/19) from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 and 1 - 5 p.m.
Please sign up for a space in a U of A van starting on Monday,
4/14 at 8 a.m. on the door to the Geos Learning Center.
I hope you can participate in this field trip on the Tucson
Rivers - Yes Tucson does have rivers. They typically flow
about 1-2 months out of the year.

GeoDaze, a student research forum, is this Thur and Fri, 410
and 11 in the Arizona Ballroom. The schedule of talks and
brief summaries are posted on the web and in the Learning
Center.

The Geology club meets tomorrow, Fri, 4/4 and will have a
guest speaker on the Comet. Weather permitting Friday evening,
we will hold a comet watch 'party' in the Tucson Mtns. from
6 - about 9 p.m. Please join us.

Optional extra credit field trips to the Tucson Mtns go this
Thur - Sat afternoon and also Sat morning. Sign-up on the
Geos Learning Center door. This is a great opportunity to
reinforce your knowledge of rock types, visit an ancient
magma chamber, and see some great scenery. Bring water,
a notebook, pencils and camera. Sneakers are fine.

All Geos 103 lab field trips up A-Mtn on Saturday, 2/22
are CANCELED due to a 'walk-your-dog-a-thon. Sorry!!
These trips will be rescheduled after your next scheduled
lab session. Sunday field trips will go.

Sign-up sheets for your volunteer service at the Junior
Education Program are posted on the door to the Geos
Learning Center until 4 p.m. on Wed, 2/12. Please sign
up for an open shift. When you sign up, fill out an info
sheet with the date and time of your service and be sure
to bring this sheet with you to the Tucson Community Center.
You are welcome to explore the Gem and Mineral Show either
before or after your service.

Show Junior Education Program starting Thursday, Feb 6. Sign
up sheets will be posted on the door of the Geos Learning
Center (205 Gould-Simpson). When you sign up be sure fill out
a volunteer information form and take it with you. YOur service
will be much appreciated. You will find it fun and very
rewarding.

Sign-up for the Junior Education Program at the Tucson
Gem and Mineral Show will start next Thur 2/6 in lecture.
This Sat 2/1 and Sun 2/2 from about 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
the geo club will sponsor a mineral sorting party at the
Tucson Gem and Mineral Society Club House on the north side
of Blackledge between Dodge and Alvernon. All 101, 110 and
112 students are invited. There will be free food and soda.

Extra Credit Learning Strategies Workshops will begin on
Monday (2/3) and Tues (2/4). Sign-up sheetsfor the workshops
will be posted on the door to the Geos Learning Center by
8 a.m. this Wednesday, 1/30. Please pick up a handout about
the workshops in lecture sometime this week.
