The magnitudes and rates of future climate change are likely to be unprecedented in Earth's history since the demise of the dinosaurs, and will probably cause unprecedented disruption of terrestrial ecosystems as well. A goal of our work is to narrow uncertainty with respect to this possible change - see Overpeck et al. (2003).
