Cariaco Basin sediments have revealed how detailed changes in the higher latitude North Atlantic impacted the tropics on a variety of time scales. For his now widely cited thesis work, Konrad Hughen used these sediments to provide key insights to climate system dynamics over the last deglaciation, as well as to how atmospheric radiocarbon changed back beyond the tree-ring calibrated radiocarbon record.
