INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science

Contributors need not be members of the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science. The Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science is a nonprofit organization, and publication costs for its journal are subsidized in part by page charges. Page charges for ANAS members are $15 per page up to eight pages and $30 per page for each additional page. Page charges for nonmembers are $30 per page. Contributors without grant support may request waiver of page charges. The senior author must sign a transfer-of-copyright form prior to publication of the manuscript. Federal employees must sign a waiver, stating that they are federal employees who cannot hold copyright to the manuscript they have submitted.

    MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Manuscripts must be typewritten and double-spaced.
  2. Three copies of all portions of the manuscript, including tables and figures, must be submitted.
  3. An informative abstract should be included for regular articles.
  4. A computer disk copy should be submitted, preferably in WordPerfect or Word in PC-compatible form, after the review process is completed.
  5. Literature citations and bibliographies should follow the style in most recent issues of this journal.
  6. Illustrations
    Illustrations should be able to be read when reduced in size to fit in one column. Whenever possible illustrations will be published at 100% of the size submitted and should not exceed 6.5 inches (165 mm) in width by 9 inches (228 mm) in height. Electronic copies (.bmp, .jpg, .tif, .wmf, .wpg) are preferable, along with a hard copy mailed flat for scanning, if needed. Please do not embed figures in text.

    EDITORIAL REVIEW

    Each manuscript will be read and criticized by at least two referees. To facilitate review, the author should send the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of five people (not from the author's home institution) who are well-qualified to review the manuscript.

    PROOF COPY AND REPRINTS

    A pdf proof copy will be sent to the author before the paper is printed. Correct all errors clearly in red and return the proof copy promptly to the editors. Authors will be billed for alterations in the proof copy due to the author's own errors at $2 per line.
