About Us| Setting

Located in the basin and range province near the Colorado Plateau, the southern Rocky Mountains, and the Gulf of California, Tucson offers a remarkable natural setting for field studies.

Within easy reach are Paleozoic fossil beds, Precambrian through Tertiary metamorphic rocks, Laramide thrusts and Tertiary metamorphic core complexes and detachment faults, volcanics and intrusions, pediments, and alluvial fans located in a recently active landscape.
