My conversation with reporter Tom Beal focused on recent warming - over the past century or so, the time scale of instrumental records, and implicitly over the past several centuries when high-resolution paleoclimate data are abundant. Other scales of analysis yield other results, e.g. the global cooling since the Cretaceous period, >65 million years ago.
