Something happened to the online practice exam, and it wasn't saving answers or scoring. I've rewritten it and it seems to be working fine. Please let me know if it isn't working.

D2L Workshops
Workshop 1 is the only workshop for which 3 attempts are allowed. The remaining 7 will only have 1 attempt. Your grade for the hypothesis fill-in will be entered on the grade sheet, not in Workshop 1.

Be Responsible
Written or printed copies emailed or delivered to GTAs or Prof. Davis do not constitute on-time submission for materials assigned to be submitted electronically.
Be Prepared
Read the instructions ahead of time to avoid failure to properly submit materials at the last minute.

The average grade for Exam 1 was 66% = "D" -- the same as last semester but 6 points below the previous semesters' averages.

    The average grade for students who completed N0 D2L practice exams was 56%, Students scoring "B" or "A" on the exam completed an average of 6.7 practice exams. The average increase was 2% for every practice exam completed. [link]

    ABSENCES - First "term"
    On average, grades on the first exam were nearly 2 points lower for every unexcused absence. [link].
    Absence are excused for documented illness-related, family-emergency and academically-sanctioned reasons [syllabus].
    Email Prof. Davis if you are uncertain of your current number of unexcused absences.

    WORKSHOPS (Wk 4)
    The D2L workshops (example: Wk 4) are found under "Quizzes" in the d2l toolbar. They consist of multiple-choice questions (10 or more - except Wk1, Wk2). To prepare for these, you must first answer the questions in the workshop instructions (example: Wk4.rtf). It is to your advantage to write the answers down before opening the D2L workshop.

    Extra Credit
    The Department of Geosciences is committed to improving the teaching ability of GTAs in its classes by providing individual feedback from their students.
    This information will be summarized in each GTA's semester report.
    To facilitate your feedback, an extra credit exercise is available on D2L until Sat. Apr 30.
    This 10-pt "quiz" includes 9 automatically-recorded multiple-choice questions, but the written feedback will not be read (or 1 pt credit added) until after all other NATS104 grades have been entered.

    Lecture Quiz 27-28
    The quiz libraries for lectures 26 and 28 were missing from D2L. I re-wrote the quiz using questions from last semester, reset all of the preliminary attempts that had submission problems, and set the due-date to Fri May 6, 1:00 PM, rather Wed (on the schedule). I'm sorry this happened!

    Seedling Reports TurnItIn
    Eight eligible students did not submit their papers to TurnItIn; and, 22 students who were not eligible submitted papers.
    A late-submission folder will be opened in TurnItIn at the end of this week: Fri Sep 16. The 8 eligible students should meet with their GTAs to set-up their TurnItIn accounts, or learn TurnItIn submission procedures.
    The 22 who were not eligible, must show their seedling experiments to their GTAs. If they have nothing to show, they must begin a new experiment, with all bags correctly labeled with their names, after the seedlings have germinated.
